TEAMWORK, LEADERSHIP AND NEGOTIATION

7. M eeting management

The meeting is the high point of teamwork. It is a moment of encounter in which ideas are shared, opinions are expressed, discussions are held, etc. It is the space in which all the ingredients that we will put into action to successfully reach the set goal are cooked. Good preparation and effective conduct of the meeting depend on aspects that can determine the results of the teamwork, such as group identification and the consequent cohesion of its members.

This unit deals with a series of aspects, attitudes and skills that must be brought into play if the meeting is to become an effective working tool.

1. Analyse the procedure to be followed in order to properly prepare a meeting. 2. Apply a series of guidelines to optimise each of the phases of a meeting. 3. Assess what kind of attitudes are conducive to the effective running of a meeting. 4. Apply a series of attitudes and behaviours that will enable us to participate in a meeting in a constructive way. 5. Differentiate possible conflict situations that may arise in a meeting and know how to find solutions.

7.1. Key elements of meeting management

Adequate preparation of the meeting may depend to a large extent on the results obtained. One of the premises that we must bear in mind, if we have the role of coordinating or directing a meeting, is to avoid improvisation.
