This last premise is basic to activate the whole mechanism of motivation. If this last requirement is not met, we can speak of demotivation, which manifests itself in a lack of desire or will, and in unhappiness. An extreme case would be people who stop eating because they have fallen into depression. There is a need, they perceive it, but they are not motivated to act on it. We act when we are motivated to act.
Towards an objective
It is the goal to be achieved. This goal will be multiple and diverse, depending on the type of need and the possibilities we have to fully satisfy it. From earning more money, to working less, or working more to get a better job...
For someone in need of self-fulfilment, the aim of their action may be to achieve a more responsible position in the company.
The result of our performance
May result in:
• Satisfaction: when our expectations have been met. The degree of satisfaction will depend on the type of need and its intensity. • Frustration: when obstacles appear that make it impossible for us to reach our goal, such as decisions by others that block our aspirations, then psychological tension will emerge that will vary according to the value with which we perceive the need.
