MANUAL TEAMWORK, LEADERSHIP AND NEGOTIATION

TEAMWORK, LEADERSHIP AND NEGOTIATION

how much room for manoeuvre do we have, what resources do we have, etc.?

Lack of support

I met with the various managers to inform them of the results I had drawn from my study on industrial relations in the company and to see how we could work out a joint solution.

No one came to the meeting; they argued that their agenda was too busy.

When one's role is perceived to be undervalued by others, a sense of insecurity can overwhelm one: "I'm doing a useless job! I'm not good at this!"

Role invasion

It occurs when there is a poor division of roles among the members of a work group or team. It can be caused by: • Organisational problems. The responsible person does not have managerial skills. • The objective of the task is poorly defined. • Conscious invasion of another partner for various reasons.

When I went to look for the candidate files for the new job, Luisa, the secretary of the former human resources director, told me that she had already made the first selection of potential candidates.

Smooth communication between team members can resolve these role encroachment conflicts.

Role distance

I was unpleasantly surprised when I was told that recruitment was handled exclusively by the company manager, and that my role was simply to pass the psychological tests and interpret the results.
