5.2. Role conflicts
When we do not know how to find our place in a certain environment, we feel insecure and uncomfortable. Likewise, if we have an assigned role and we perceive that someone is invading it, we feel harassed. In the company, these feelings are frequent and cause reactions in people ranging from mild discomfort to real stress. We are going to analyse the existence of possible role conflicts in certain situations.
CASE: WHERE IS MY PLACE?
Juan is the human resources manager of the company Curtidos S.A. On his first day, he realises that something is not working and that the expectations he had at the beginning have nothing to do with reality.

Information deficit
On my first day at work I found myself sitting in my office with an empty desk in front of me and no one telling me what was expected of me. Everyone assumed that this was what I was expected to demonstrate. What feeling can this person have? This situation occurs when we do not know what results are expected from our work. We may have an assigned position, such as human resources manager, but someone must tell us, at least at the beginning, how to carry out this function within the company.
