MANUAL TEAMWORK, LEADERSHIP AND NEGOTIATION

TEAMWORK, LEADERSHIP AND NEGOTIATION

There was a moment when the tension between Rosa and Cristian reached extreme limits. I acted immediately to take the heat out of the matter. I focussed on the main issue and transcribed the key ideas on the blackboard, which we analysed one by one. In the end we managed to reach a consensus. We must show interest in the proposals or opinions of both sides. We must thoroughly analyse the cause of the conflict and make sure that the causes are objective and should be dealt with at the meeting. If this is not the case, the issue should be postponed to another day to be dealt with in another setting.

I discovered that at the heart of it was a matter of personal quarrels and thought it appropriate to defer the subject to another, more suitable time and place. I must call a private meeting between the three of us.

When conducting a meeting, remember:

1. Let us not discriminate. When speaking, we will address everyone present. 2. Avoid domineering attitudes, which can inhibit others. To do this: - Let us provide support and positive responses. - Let's keep our emotional attitude well regulated: let's control our tone of voice, gestures and posture.
