MANUAL TEAMWORK, LEADERSHIP AND NEGOTIATION
TEAMWORK, LEADERSHIP AND NEGOTIATION
• Listen to all participants. • Use a friendly and relaxed tone. Aggressiveness in comments is contagious. • Focus on the issue. • Stick to the items on the agenda, firmly correct any attempt to go off-topic. • Have a start and end time for the meeting and be alert to tense silences, as these make participants uncomfortable and, paradoxically, inhibit participation. • Being able to leave issues that get stuck and block the meeting. • Do not discuss personal conflicts in meetings. A team meeting is not the place to reproach anyone's attitude. • Lead towards consensus: relax conflicting views; don't let them drift further apart; act and move them towards possible common ground. • Listen to all opinions equally and draw conclusions that allow some approximation. Remember that when a consensus is reached, the group feels cohesive again.
7.4. Attitudes in a meeting
1. Before you start
Carefully read the agenda for the meeting, which you will probably have in advance, reflect on the different topics and make notes on possible contributions that can be made. Be punctual. The timetable is set for a purpose. Arriving late, if not for an irremediable reason, is disrespectful to others. Turn off your mobile phone.
2. During the meeting:
Listen actively, direct your attention to the person who has the floor. Do not distract your attention or that of others with comments about the person next to you. It is important to focus your attention on what is being said. Be attentive to the non-verbal language of the person who is speaking. Notice the person's perception of a gesture
